Representing office workers at Ford in Markham, Ontario, UAW Local 1980’s brief warns that employers have used so-called “merit pay” to breach equal pay laws and the principle of pay equity. The brief uses several case studies to illustrate this contention and argues categorically that merit pay should not be allowed as an exception under any pay equity bill.
