In 1975, International Women’s Year, the Ontario Federation of Labour Statement on Women called for sweeping measures to facilitate the integration of women in the labour market and unions. This document addresses the need for legislation on equal pay and affirmative action, as well as maternity leave and childcare. It also identified the need for unions to promote greater participation by women in the union and in the workplace.
