“Voicing the Women’s Perspective” is an excerpt from the bulletin The Cirle/Le Cercle, which looks at “Focusing the Dialogue”, the second discussion document by the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples. The article highlights challenging stereotypical representations of Aboriginal women and canvassing their views and experiences on topics of self-government, justice, resource development, land use, treaty rights, land base, labour force participation, health, education, culture, and family. The author notes that the women’s research program will also examine the relationship between gender, violence, and power with respect to Aboriginal women, in addition to the research being done on major theme areas and identified community case studies.
