President’s Report – Toronto Chapter Annual General Meeting (1990)


The President, Charis Newton, reported on national and regional involvement by the Toronto Chapter, as well as two local initiatives, the Anti-Racist Childcare Strategies Film Project and Barsha Kelly/Cari-Can Co-op Housing Project. Other actions included support for Caribbean domestics, protest of Ontario Human Rights Commission hiring practices, activism on discrimination against Black social assistance recipients, providing training on violence, and dealing with concerns with Intercede’s treatment of black staff and domestic workers.
