In this 1977 position paper, the Toronto-based Committee Against the Deportation of Immigrant Women (CADIW) argues for support against the deportation of immigrant women in Canada. It examines how immigrant women doubly face racism and sexism and are exploited as a source of cheap labour in Canada. It also discusses the widespread practice of deportation by the Department of Immigration and the unfair treatment of immigrant women, especially West Indian and East Indian women, by immigration officers. The paper concludes by outlining plans for the defence of West Indian mothers who have come to Canada as domestic workers and house cleaners and are now being accused of falsifying entry documents.
