Women Rally for Action

On March 22, 1976, after months of planning and organizing, hundreds of women from all over British Columbia rallied at the Legislative Buildings in Victoria for the largest mass lobby in the history of the province. While a demonstration was held outside the legislature, lobby teams from every riding in B.C. met with their MLAs and presented them with the Women Rally for Action brief and questions on their position on specific issues. The Brief addressed major issues of concern to women, including Women’s Centre core funding, childcare, Family and Children’s Law Commission recommendations, equal employment opportunities, non-sexist education, healthcare, maternity protection, and the office of the Provincial Status of Women Co-ordinator.
