The National Action Committee on the Status of Women Board proposed the establishment of a Women’s Resource and Development Centre as a project of the United Nations International Women’s Year 1975. The goal was to have the Centre serve both as an archival library of Canadian women, containing their history and the record of their participation in the world-wide women’s movement, and as an international training and development centre.
Rise Up! believes that learning about social movements from original historical materials is an important public good. We believe that these materials should be accessible to the public for research or education and, of course, for discussion and review.
