This button reflects the feminist movement’s understanding of the intertwined relationship between fighting racism in various countries around the world and fighting racism here in Canada. This view is a response to a perspective that might see, as an example, the anti-racist, anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa as singularly important while ignoring the struggle against racism and white supremacy here in Canada.
Rise Up! believes that learning about social movements from original historical materials is an important public good. We believe that these materials should be accessible to the public for research or education and, of course, for discussion and review.
