The booklet is a joint project of the Native Women’s Association of Canada and the Canadian Council on Social Development. It includes a descriptive overview of what it is like to be abused as an aboriginal woman, testimonials by women who have survived violence, and an interview with an elder and drug and alcohol counsellor. There is also a section describing initiatives being developed to help family violence victims and offenders.
Rise Up! believes that learning about social movements from original historical materials is an important public good. We believe that these materials should be accessible to the public for research or education and, of course, for discussion and review.
