The Women and Words Conference was held in Vancouver from 30 June – 3 July 1983. It was conceived by the West Coast Women and Words Society as a means to initiate a networking system for women writers, publishers, reviewers, translators, and booksellers. This brochure, in English and French, for conference attendees describes the history of the conference, provides general information, and outlines the schedule of events. Events included panels such as “Lesbian Writing,” “Ethnicity, Race, and Women’s Writing,” “How Class Affects Women’s Writing,” and “English/French Canadian Theatre: Different Directions” as well as workshops for attendees such as “Creativity and Child-Bearing, Child-Raising,” “Writing From a Native Woman’s Perspective,” and “Censorship and Self-Censorship.”
