This issue of Vis-à-vis: A National Newsletter on Family Violence looks at family violence in Canada’s Native communities. It identifies the central role and continuing damage to individuals and communities inflicted by colonization and its techno-materialist culture, broken promises, forced dislocations, alcohol and diet, disease, and the teachings of various brands of Christianity. It also provides an overview of some responses by native communities and women.
Rise Up! believes that learning about social movements from original historical materials is an important public good. We believe that these materials should be accessible to the public for research or education and, of course, for discussion and review.
