The minutes of the May 1981 meeting of the Canadian United Auto Workers’ Women’s Advisory Committee showed discussion of disbanding the advisory council, to be replaced by a new Canadian UAW Council Women’s Committee, which is a constituted committee of the union’s mini-Parliament, comprising delegates to the Council. The new committee would be able to bring women’s concerns directly to the Council, forcing attention to these issues.
