This 1986 CDCAA paper was written in response to a number of well intentioned but problematic proposals that had been put forward as federal solutions to the child care crisis in Canada. While the federal government had not yet determined its course of action, the Canadian Day Care Advocacy Association was deeply concerned that support might develop for these “false solutions”, because of lack of analysis regarding their negative implications for Canadian families. This paper endeavoured to set the record straight.
