The leaflet calls on interested women to join the organizing efforts for the 1980 International Women’s Day events in Toronto. The main 1980 IWD theme was BREAD AND ROSES IN THE 80S: JOBS AND RIGHTS FOR WOMEN. Other themes were full employment rights for women; full support for all social services; control of our bodies; safe and healthy working environments; violence against women; and solidarity with the struggles of women nationally and internationally.
Rise Up! believes that learning about social movements from original historical materials is an important public good. We believe that these materials should be accessible to the public for research or education and, of course, for discussion and review.
