Formed in 1893, the National Council of Women of Canada (NCWC)/Conseil national des femmes du Canada, (CNFC)) is a Canadian advocacy organization aimed at improving conditions for women, families, and communities. It is the Canadian member of the International Council of Women (ICW) and operates as a federation of nationally-organized societies of men and women and local and provincial councils of women, including the Provincial Council of Women of Ontario. During it history, the Council has addressed issues such as women’s suffrage, childcare, woman abuse, equal pay, status of Indigenous women, and the status of women, as well as many local and national community-based issues related to the concerns of women.
