This brief outlines the failures of the province in following through with the measures in New Directions that called for a transformation of child care services. Child care remained wholly inadequate due to continued lack of subsidized spaces, inadequate public expenditures, lack of affordability, and the inadequacy of the federal child care plan. The brief presents a list of recommendations to correct the situation.
