In January 1978, the Metropolitan Toronto Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) released these abortion policy recommendation. The recommendations outlined in this document were drafted in response to the Government of Canada’s appointment of a Committee on the Operation of the Abortion Law (COAL) which released a report known as the “Badgley Report” in 1977. The analysis of the YWCA’s report is broken into two parts: the first outlines their position that Canada’s Abortion Law should be repealed and the second offers their recommendations to make the existing law more equitable should repeal be refused.
