Produced five times a year, the Child Care Challenge is the newsletter of the Ontario Coalition for Better Day Care (later renamed the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care). Each issue provides information and updates about recent Coalition campaigns – municipal, provincial, and federal. The newsletter contains many “think” pieces about issues pertinent to child care reform such as “How to achieve high quality child care”, the commercial child care debate, how to improve wages and working conditions, pay equity and unionization. It also covers broader issues such as poverty, women’s rights, and national and international child care comparisons. News and reports from the local coalitions – Local Lines – kept everyone across the province up-to-date. Queen’s Park Beat and news from across Canada kept everyone in the national picture. Full information is regularly provided about how the Coalition is organized, how to join the Coalition (including fees), and how to receive the Child Care Challenge. Each issue comes with photos and cartoons.
