Susan Downs hosts a round table with Lynn Chambillard, Ross Higgins, and Tom Waugh, to discuss class and work implications of lesbianism and gay life in the 1950s and intergenerational gay bars, divisions between lesbian and gay men in Toronto, and between French and English in Montreal, and lesbian and gay communities working together in AIDS activism. Gay Day was an annual 24 hour broadcast event held by CKUT Radio (which hosted the Dykes on Mykes broadcast), from 1989 to 1991. The broadcasting event was held to honour LGBTQ+ and AIDS activist Joe Rose, who was murdered in a homophobic hate-motivated attack in Montreal’s Gay Village in 1989.
