Following the roundtable, Deborah Vanslet and Thomas Haig read an excerpt from Stan Persky’s “Buddies,” host a satire Barbie news show, and read from an excerpt from Susan Sontag on ‘camp.’ Gay Day was an annual 24 hour broadcast event held by CKUT Radio (which hosted the Dykes on Mykes broadcast), from 1989 to 1991. The broadcasting event was held to honour LGBTQ+ and AIDS activist Joe Rose, who was murdered in a homophobic hate-motivated attack in Montreal’s Gay Village in 1989.
