A Woman’s Place Is In Her Union – OFL

This undated button with the slogan ‘A woman’s place is in her union’ was created by the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL). The phrase “a woman’s place is in her union” was a popular slogan adopted by women trade unionists during this period to challenge traditional beliefs that ‘a woman’s place is in the home’ and ‘a woman’s place in the kitchen’. The slogan confronted the notion that union work was men’s work and called on women to become involved.
