Anna Mae Aquash: Warrior-Mother – Casualty of the War Against Indigenous Peoples

This undated button describes Anna Mae Aquash, a Mi’kmaq woman from Nova Scotia, as a warrior-mother and casualty of the war against Indigenous peoples. Aquash was an activist with the American Indian Movement and participated in a number of land defence occupations in the United States in the 1960s and 70s. Aquash was murdered in 1976 on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
