Why Not? International Women’s Year 1975 This button was produced by the Canadian government in 1975 to mark International Women’s Year. That year, the United Nations began designating March 8 as International Women’s Day and launched the Decade for Women from 1975-1985. A world conference was in held in Mexico in 1975 to establish a set of goals to advance women’s rights during this decade.
