Elect Judy Darcy This 1987 election campaign button features a light blue background with the slogan “Elect/Elisez Judy Darcy”. A long-time labour, feminist, and socialist activist, it is one of several buttons used in Darcy’s runs for leadership offices in the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) during the 1980s. In 1988, Darcy also ran as the federal New Democratic Party candidate in York Simcoe. In 1991, Darcy was elected CUPE National President, an office she held until 2003.
