Women’s Books for a Feminist Future

This undated button with the slogan ‘Women’s Books for a Feminist Future!’ reflects the feminist literary movement that began to take off during the 1970 as the women’s movement grew. Women began to set up  their own publishing houses and bookstores to produce and sell feminist writings of all genres. By the end of the 1980s, there were over 20 feminist publishing houses across the world. Some examples of these publishing houses include: Virago Press, Sheba Feminist Press, The Onlywomen Press, and The Women’s Press. Feminist literature remains a popular genre today.
