Why We Want Good Child Care

This is a background paper published by Action Day Care as a companion to the organization’s pamphlet of the same name. This analytical paper includes historical and current data and comparative studies historyto argue for the need for public investment in childcare. Themes covered include women’s labour participation over time, how the quality of childcare impacts children, the impact of chilcare availability and quality on lower income families, and what can be done to change the availability and quality of childcare.
