A 1980 calendar published by Anduhyaun that features the quote “Women Are the Strength of the Nation.” In 1968 by the Ministry of Indian Affairs and the YWCA set up a Toronto hostel to support Indigenous women. It was proposed that his hostel be managed by Indigenous women and this took place in 1973 when four Indigenous grandmothers – Vera Martin, Mildred Redmond, Mary Jane Young and Jeannette Lavell – created a not-for-profit, charitable agency known as Anduhyaun Incorporated Anduhyaun now operates as an emergency shelter for Indigenous Women.
