Ba’Thari Statement for International Black Women’s Day The Black Women’s Collective (BWC) welcomes International Black Women’s Day celebration as a starting point for keeping alive the heritage and contributions of Black Women in Canada. In 1987, Pauline Peters, a member of Diasporic African Women’s Art (DAWA), initiated the production of Ba’Thari Day, the first Black Women’s Day held in Regent Park, Toronto.
