Issues and Campaigns (1987): Countdown for Child Care The Countdown for Child Care Campaign was launched by the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada (CDCAA), National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC), and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) in 1987 in response to the tabling of the Report of the Special Committee on Child Care. This bulletin includes a pamphlet entitled “Our Children Deserve the Best”, illustrating the problem of relying on tax credits to finance child care. Also included is a report “What the People Said” that analyzes the transcripts to the Special Committee. The Campaign launched a petition called “We Care” and proposed attaching these petitions to lengths of ribbon symbolizing support across the country. The ribbons were to be unfurled on Parliament Hill in mid-June 1987. Metadata Title: Issues and Campaigns (1987): Countdown for Child Care Date: 1987 Region: National (all of Canada)
