Issues & Campaigns (1988): Women Vote! What every woman needs to know about Free Trade The booklet “Women Vote! What every woman needs to know about Free Trade” was distributed by the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) during the 1988 election campaign. Free trade was a defining issue in that campaign. The introduction highlighted the gender gap on this question and the fact that more women than men opposed the proposed Canada/US Free Trade Agreement. It also provided a comprehensive overview of the impact that free trade would have on issues important to women, including jobs, wages and conditions of work, education, daycare, health care, the environment, consumer protection and prices, and peace.
