Now More Than Ever, Our Union Needs Leadership

This 1985 letter from Carrol Anne Sceviour, Vice-President of the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), and Gaye Lamb, a staff representative and member of United Steelworkers, is addressed to their Union members. Sceviour and Lamb discuss their divisive battle the previous year in the election for OFL Women’s Vice-President, and vow to place their efforts towards strengthening the Union in an age of extensive job loss. They use this letter to dedicate their support to Leo Gerard, in his campaign to be elected Director of District 6 of the Steelworkers’ Union.
