Rise Up! Feminist Digital Archive
A Digital Archive of Feminist Activism
Take Back the Night marches and vigils are organized by women in communities across Canada as a protest and form of direct action to end violence against women, particularly sexual and domestic violence. These marches began in the 1970s and have since grown into a worldwide movement. Feminist organizations, such as Women Against Violence Against Women, and services, such as the Sudbury Rape Crisis Centre and the Toronto Rape Crisis centre, were driving forces in initiating the marches in Canada.
