Revolutionary Left

This subsection contains material providing insight into how different revolutionary left groups responded to the growing struggles over women’s equality. These groups viewed women’s inequality, and the oppression of all marginalized peoples, as rooted in capitalist structures. Ending these oppressions would come through class struggle to overthrow and replace the capitalist system.

This undated button features Rosa Luxemburg, the Marxist and revolutionary socialist activist who co-founded the Spartacus League in Germany. Following World War I, she and fellow leader Karl Liebknecht were captured and executed during the Spartacist uprising of January 1919.
