Immigrant Women of Saskatchewan (IWC) was established in the early 1980s as a grassroots self-help organization by and for immigrant and refugee women and their families. The organization had several member-run chapters across the province, including in Regina, Prince Albert, Moosejaw, Yorkton, and Saskatoon. Each chapter engaged in fundraising efforts and offered programming and services such as educational workshops, job training, language classes, counselling, community events, and more. Clientele would visit IWC chapters for support on issues ranging from immigration matters and legal problems, to depression and loneliness. IWC published a newsletter in the 1990s, Our Voice, as a space for immigrant, refugee, and racialized women to reclaim their voices. The organization now operates as the Regina Immigrant Women Centre (RIWC).
