The New Democratic Party (NDP) is a federal political party founded in 1961. Historically, the party tackled issues relating to social justice and equality, and created its own women’s committee to advocate for gender equality. Members of the party also started publications such as Equal Times, Priorities: A Publication of the N.D.P. Women’s Committee and the Women’s Report. Prominent members of the party included Winnie Ng, Rosemary Brown and Audrey McLaughlin.
