The Women’s Office (WO) was a student-run community centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC) that operated as an amalgamation of different women-focused student and non-student organizations working on different projects and workshops, serving as a resources centre, sounding board, and haven. The WO offered non-credit educational programs and classes in Women’s Studies for both UBC students and the wider feminist community in 1971, prior to the introduction of credit-courses in Women’s Studies at the university. The WO also ran a television program on Cable 10 called “Women in Focus” (WIF). WIF operated as a community workshop, primarily for non-student women, training women how to use the equipment and allowing them to create their own productions.
