The Ottawa chapter of Organized Working Women (OWW) launched a local newsletter, The Grapevine, in December 1987. It reported on the local chapter and promoted local OWW workshops and Union Sister Dinners. It also provided news on issues affecting working women and on key union struggles by women workers.
Interest in Organized Working Women grew in Ottawa, and by February 12, 1985, more than 40 union women established the Ottawa chapter of Organized Working Women. Ottawa members received a subscription to OWW’s Union Woman but in December 1987, a local newsletter called The Grapevine was launched. It promoted local OWW workshops, Union Sister Dinners, and reported on changes in the local chapter Executive. It provided short news items on issues affecting working women and often contained news on key union struggles by women workers, explaining the issues and encouraging financial support.
