Rise Up! Feminist Digital Archive
Women and Environments Education and Development Foundation published Women and Environments International (WEI), a unique Canadian magazine that examined women’s multiple relations to their environments – natural, built, and social – from feminist and anti-racist perspectives. It was published from 1976 to 2019.

“The Women and Environments International Newsletter was started for a particular purpose – to focus on action, research, and people working on topics relating to women and their environments. There are now many journals and magazines which cover feminist issues, but none which focuses exclusively on women’s environmental needs.
For the editors of this Newsletter, environments are not simply our physical surroundings, the geography and urban landscape, housing, industry, and transport which represent our relationship to the earth and its resources. Environments are also our interactions and behaviours towards each other, and the structures of how we live together, work, and play.
