The British Columbia Federation of Women (BCFW) acted as an umbrella organization providing a network of support for women’s groups in B.C. It published a newsletter from 1974 to at least 1982 that focused on BCFW activities and news of the women’s movement across Canada and internationally.
This is the newsletter for the British Columbia Federation of Women, which was founded in 1974 to act as an umbrella organization providing a network of support for women’s groups in the province. Its purpose was to organize province-wide action on women’s issues, including health, child care, education, and employment.
The first issue of the newsletter states that its functions are:
“1) printing news of BCFW activities; 2) providing a means of communication between interest groups; 3) printing letters from readers; 4) informing BCFW members on the activities of the Standing Committee; 5) providing reports on the work of member organizations and individual members; 6) circulating news of the women’s movement in general, in Canada and world-wide; 7) contributing to our knowledge of the history of the women’s movement in B.C.”
