Don’t Shop At Cunninghams

Poster produced for the Vancouver Women’s Caucus in 1970, in solidarity with the boycotting of C.H. Hoskin, ltd., owned by Cunningham Drugs. Workers at Cunningham’s, including eight women, went on strike in May 1979 seeking a first contract. Four other women had been fired right after certification.

The lengthy strike was supported by feminist groups such as the Vancouver Women’s Caucus and Working Women’s Workshop, as well the labour movement, including the B.C. Federation of Labour and the International Woodworker’s Association.

This material is reproduced here with the permission of Press Gang, a feminist printing and publishing collective active in Vancouver from the early 1970s to 2002. Posters by Press Gang are held at the Simon Fraser University Archives.
