International Women’s Day 1990 – Violence Against Women This International Women’s Day 1990 poster was produced for the National Union of Provincial Government Employees (NUPGE) following the murder of 14 young women at Polytechnique Montréal on December 6, 1989. The poster includes messaging on violence against women, along with the statement “First mourn. Then work for change.” The design features ten red roses on white lace fabric. The poster is one of a number in the Rise Up archival collection designed and illustrated by Joss Maclennan.
