Poster in Inuktitut and English for an Inuit Women’s Conference held by the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada in the summer of 1975. A recommendation was made at this meeting to form an Inuit women’s organization focused on their needs. The founding meeting of the national Inuit Women’s Association (IWA) was held in 1983 and Pauktuutit was officially incorporated in 1984 with Jeela Alikatuktuk Moss-Davies as the first president.
