Oppose Moshe Dayan – A Symbol of Zionism This 1975 poster promotes a forum and demonstration held at the University of British Columbia in protest of a visit by former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. At the centre of the poster is a drawing of Yasser Arafat, former president of the National Palestinian Authority, accompanied by one of his quotes, along with an image of a map of Palestine and the Palestinian flag. The forum included a screening of the film We Are the Palestinian People, and the demonstration took place at the UBC Student Union Building, where Dayan was scheduled to speak. It was organized by the ad-hoc Committee to Oppose Moshe Dayan’s Visit and included members of the Revolutionary Marxist Group, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), the Young Socialists, members of the Gay People of UBC, and supporters of the Palestine Liberation Organization. This material is reproduced here with the permission of Press Gang, a feminist printing and publishing collective active in Vancouver from the early 1970s to 2002. Posters by Press Gang are held at the Simon Fraser University Archives. Metadata Title: Oppose Moshe Dayan – A Symbol of Zionism Date: 1975 Region: British Columbia City/Town: Vancouver
