1988 poster promoting a South African Women’s Day event in Vancouver on August 7th, celebrating South African Women’s Day in 1956, when more than 20,000 women marched on Pretoria against the pass laws. The poster features three quotes: “A woman’s place is in the struggle, not behind bars!”; “You strike the woman, you strike the rock”; and “Now you have touched the women, you have struck a rock, you have dislodged a boulder, you will be crushed.”
