Sweatshop Abuse

This poster was created for OXFAM’s No Sweat Campaign in the 1990s. It depicts a person wearing a blindfold of strips of fabric, and the text along the bottom reads: “Don’t close your eyes to sweatshop abuses. Exploitation is never in fashion.” The logo for Oxfam Canada is in the top left corner. The No Sweat Campaign was a joint campaign with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the Maquila Solidarity Network, Students Against Sweatshops – Canada, The Union of Needle Trades, Industrial, and Textile Employees, and OXFAM Canada. The poster was designed by Joss Mclennan with photography by Michael Chambers.

The poster is one of a number in the Rise Up archival collection by Joss Maclennan. Copyright is held by the artist and the poster is shared here with Joss Maclennan’s permission.
