Work Ahead – Career Steps helps young women get their first technology-related job This undated poster was created in the early 1990s for the promotion of “Career Steps”, a program to prepare women to join the WITT (Women in Technology & Trades) fields. The program was sponsored by the federal government of Canada through the Youth Employment Strategy program. The graphic features a woman in white, plain clothes with a yellow hardhat, standing on a beam while being lifted into the sky above the city. The design uses multicoloured texts in yellow, navy, black and white in contrast to the blue skyline. Graphic design is by Joss Maclennan. The poster is one of a number in the Rise Up archival collection by Joss Maclennan. Copyright is held by the artist and the poster is shared here with Joss Maclennan’s permission.
