Rise Up! Feminist Digital Archive
A Digital Archive of Feminist Activism
Established in Quebec in the late 1990s, the World March of Women has grown into an international feminist, anti-capitalist movement. The idea to organize the March was initiated by the Féderation des femmes du Québec (FFQ) following the success of the 1995 Women’s March Against Poverty in Quebec and the 1996 Women’s March for Bread in Roses in Canada. The first March of Women took place on International Women’s Day in 2000 with people participating in marches organized in countries all around the world.
