Sisters in the Struggle

The NFB documentary Sisters in the Struggle (1991- Dionne Brand, Ginny Stikeman) features a frank conversation among Black women active in politics as well as community, labour, and feminist organizing. The women share their personal experiences of racism and sexism, linking them to the fight to end systemic discrimination and violence.

Two other NFB films from this period by Dionne Brand are Listening for Something – Adrienne Rich & Dionne Brand in Conversation (1996) and Long Time Coming (1993) featuring lesbian artists Faith Nolan and Grace Channer.…/sisters-in-the…/…/listening-for…/…/films/long-time-comin/
