In this new interview about Justice for Women in Prisons, Joey Twins and Kim Pate speak about the 1994 events that led to an enquiry into the state of women’s corrections led by Louise Arbour. Arbour’s Report to the Commission of Inquiry into Certain Events at the Prison for Women in Kingston was released in 1996.

“I think there’s a stigma that attaches to people who are convicted and there’s a presumption that whatever happens people deserve if they’ve been criminalized without any context.”
