Many feminist groups produced newsletters, newspapers, and magazines throughout the 1970s to the 1990s. Dozens of different publications reflected the diversity of feminist ideology and activism and, in that pre-Internet era, played a central role in spreading feminist ideas and debates as well as information about actions, organizations, and issues. Regular coverage and discussion also became an integral part of progressive and labour periodicals.
Some feminist publications from the 1970s to the 1990s are already online and, in these cases, we have provided links. Many more are not, and our intention is to keep expanding the collection available through the Rise Up! digital archive. Our aim is to seek out publications from different regions across Canada and Quebec as well as ones representing the diverse voices of feminist activism.
It has been a challenge to access these materials, especially complete sets. Contact us to contribute missing issues as well as different publications to the Rise Up! publications archive. You can also help us add publications with a donation towards the costs of digitizing.
